Art Fund Supports Student Work Placements in UK Cultural Organisations

Art Fund has announced the availability of grants to support museums, galleries and visual arts organisations in providing paid work placements for full-time university students.

Grants of up to £10,000 are available, with the organisation considering up to 100% of costs linked to paying students for their time. The funding is intended to help organisations deliver projects while offering students practical experience in the cultural sector.

The initiative aims to enable students to explore potential careers in the arts before graduation. It also seeks to support organisations in engaging younger audiences, broadening perspectives within their workforce and contributing to sector-wide diversity.

Eligible applicants include UK public museums, galleries, historic houses, libraries, archives, agencies and other visual arts organisations. Applicants must demonstrate a public presence or outcome and show adherence to recognised sector standards, such as Arts Council England accreditation.

Funding can be used to cover wages for students involved in project delivery, particularly where activities encourage public engagement with art, either online or in person.

Students participating in placements may gain training, professional connections and experience to support future employment.

The deadline for applications is 26 June 2026.
