Browse Studios CIC is getting ready to open a new creative, cultural and community space at 62 - 63 Prospect Street, right in the heart of Hull city centre. The former retail unit - empty for three years - is being transformed into a lively hub for events, creative work, community projects, independent business support, and future plans for a community café.
Founded by Mike White in 2014, Browse began as an independent magazine celebrating Hull’s arts, music, food and grassroots creativity. Now, it’s evolving into a physical space with a wider community purpose, designed to bring fresh energy to Prospect Street and help revitalise an area that’s seen reduced footfall in recent years.
As a Community Interest Company, Browse Studios CIC is built for public benefit. Its aims include widening access to arts and culture, creating opportunities for local creatives, supporting media and digital skills, activating underused city‑centre space and contributing to Hull’s ongoing regeneration.
The new space will host live events, exhibitions, talks, workshops, co‑working, creative meet‑ups, brand activations, independent markets and collaborations with local organisations. Future plans include affordable creative memberships, premium desk space, daytime community activity, food and drink concepts and a wider programme supporting Hull’s cultural ecosystem.
