Hull's musicians have the chance to put themselves forward for one of the UK's biggest festivals for new and emerging music, with artist applications now open for The Great Escape 2027.
Taking place across venues in Brighton each May, The Great Escape brings together hundreds of emerging artists from the UK and further afield, playing to music fans alongside thousands of people working across the music industry.
Applications for the 2027 festival are now open in partnership with CD Baby, and importantly, there's no fee to apply!
Artists from any genre and anywhere in the world can put themselves forward, whether they're completely independent, working with a team or recently signed.
Hull has already been well represented at the festival in recent years. Chiedu Oraka, Jodie Langford, Yasmin Coe, and O'Phantom were among the city's artists who headed to Brighton in 2025, while Breeze and The Froot followed in 2026 as part of the Northern Music Takeover.
The festival has become an important showcase for emerging artists at different stages of their careers, with some pretty impressive names passing through over the years. Previous performers include Adele, Stormzy, Ed Sheeran, Charli XCX, Wolf Alice, Hozier, Kneecap, Sleep Token and Lewis Capaldi.
For artists here in Hull looking to take their music beyond the city, it's a chance to perform in front of new audiences while getting their music heard by people working across the wider industry.
Applications remain open until 15th February 2027, so there's plenty of time to get one in, although with a large number of artists applying each year, the festival isn't able to provide individual feedback to everyone.
With Hull artists already making their mark at The Great Escape, hopefully we'll see a few more familiar names making the trip down to Brighton next May.
