Hull and East Riding Museum of Archaeology has been shortlisted in the Best Accessible category at the Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Awards - the only UK museum awards judged entirely by families.
Each year, Kids in Museums celebrates heritage spaces that go above and beyond for visitors of all ages. From February to April, families across the country cast their votes, before a panel of museum experts, children and young people narrowed hundreds of nominations down to a final shortlist of 20 attractions.
The museum is known for bringing 235 million years of history to life, from towering mammoths and Saxon invaders to Iron Age homes and Roman mosaics. It’s a place where visitors can step into the past and explore the stories that shaped our region.
Over the summer holidays, undercover family judges will visit all shortlisted museums, assessing them against the Kids in Museums Manifesto - a guide to what makes a great family day out. Their experiences will determine the category winners and the overall Family Friendly Museum Award 2026, announced at a ceremony in October.
