The full programme has now been revealed for Music Cities Convention Hull 2026, which will take place from 8 - 11 June.

Returning to the UK, the Convention brings together policymakers, city leaders, music industry professionals and cultural innovators from around the world. The event explores the role music plays in shaping cities, local economies and communities, positioning Hull within a global conversation on music‑led development.

Designed as a working forum, the 2026 programme places a strong emphasis on practical outcomes. Sessions focus on real‑world case studies, shared challenges and actionable approaches to building sustainable music ecosystems.

A programme shaped around action

Taking place across two days, the Convention will examine the relationship between music and urban development through a mix of panels, workshops, roundtables and networking sessions.

Key themes include:

  • Measuring the economic and social impact of music
  • Cultural infrastructure, venues and placemaking
  • Supporting resilient music ecosystems beyond major metropolitan hubs
  • Music education, access and inclusion
  • International collaboration and city‑to‑city exchange

The programme brings together international perspectives alongside insights from Hull and across the UK, creating space for knowledge‑sharing, peer learning and collaboration.

Beyond the conference sessions

In addition to the core programme, delegates can take part in a range of events across the city, including:

  • Hull of a Night, a citywide music showcase across grassroots venues
  • Curated networking opportunities with more than 300 international delegates
  • The Music Cities Awards, held at Hull Minster, recognising innovation in music‑led urban development

These activities aim to connect delegates with Hull’s music scene while showcasing the city’s venues, talent and cultural infrastructure.
