Children and young people in North Bransholme have been getting creative this summer thanks to a four week programme packed with exciting workshops at North Bransholme Community Centre with REEL Creative, a digital training hub for people of all backgrounds.
Running twice a week throughout the school holidays, the sessions introduce participants to a wide range of creative activities, from digital art, music and photography to robotics, virtual reality and AI. The programme gives young people the chance to develop new skills, discover emerging technologies and express their creativity in a fun and supportive environment.
The workshops are led by Helen Gill from Hello U Creative, alongside a talented team of creative practitioners. Among them is renowned Hull photographer George Norris, who inspired young participants through photography sessions, helping them explore storytelling through the lens while building confidence in their creative abilities.
The programme was made possible with the support of Councillor Garreth Byrne and sessions have been consistently well attended. The programme is a space where children and young people can make new friends, try something different and experience technologies they may not otherwise have had access to.
REEL Creative proudly invested £7,000 in charitable funding to deliver the project, reinforcing its commitment to make opportunities for communities across Hull.
By bringing creative experiences directly into the heart of North Bransholme, the programme has helped young people build confidence, discover new interests and see the exciting possibilities that creativity and technology can offer.
