People across Hull will come together this weekend to mark Remembrance Sunday with the city's annual service at the Cenotaph.
Organised by the Royal British Legion with support from Hull City Council, the commemorative event will begin at 10.55am on Sunday, providing an opportunity for residents, veterans, service personnel and community groups to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in military conflicts.
The service will include the traditional two-minute silence at 11am, joining communities across the country in remembrance of those who served and sacrificed during the First World War and subsequent conflicts.
Among those laying wreaths will be the Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Maria Coward, alongside representatives from a range of organisations and services.
Before the service begins, a military parade will make its way through the city centre. Setting off from Queen Victoria Square at 10.25am, the parade will travel along Carr Lane before turning onto Ferensway and proceeding to the Cenotaph.
To allow the event to take place safely, a number of temporary road closures will be in operation across Hull city centre from 6am on Sunday. Residents and visitors are advised to plan their journeys in advance.
A full list of road closures can be viewed here: Remembrance Sunday: Full list of road closures – Hull CC News.
All restrictions are expected to be lifted by 1pm.
A smaller Armistice Day service will be held at the Cenotaph on Wednesday 11 November. Organised by the Royal British Legion's Hull branch, the event will once again include a two minute silence at 11am, offering a further opportunity for reflection and remembrance.
