Hull has hosted a string of high profile productions, including Enola Holmes 2, The Personal History of David Copperfield, BBC series, Channel 4 drama National Treasure starring Robbie Coltrane, A Royal Night Out, and the global TV hit Victoria.

Enola Holmes 2 (2022)

Netflix's sequel to the family friendly adventure about Sherlock Holmes’s rebellious sister was filmed in Hull’s Old Town. Its cobbled streets and Georgian townhouses provided an ideal backdrop for stars like Millie Bobby Brown, Helena Bonham Carter, and Henry Cavill.

Hullraisers (2022)

Hull born and bred comedian, Lucy Beaumont set her sitcom, Hullraisers in her hometown. Scenes shot in the city of Hull include the Silver Cod pub on Anlaby Road and Larkin’s Bar and BED Boutique on Newland Avenue.

Bodies (2022)

In October, parts of the Old Town and Princes Quay Shopping Centre were used to depict London across the ages for time travelling murder mystery, Bodies. The series centres around the same murder being committed in London in four different time periods – the 1890s, 1940s, 2010s and the future.

The Crown (2022)

A month later, Netflix returned to Queen Victoria Square, transforming it into wartime London for the Golden Globe and Emmy winning series, The Crown.

The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019)

Hull’s Old Town - with its listed buildings, real ale pubs, and atmospheric cobbled streets - stood in for Dickensian London. Written by Armando Iannucci, this Charles Dickens’s adaptation stars Dev Patel, alongside Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw, and Paul Whitehouse.

Victoria (2018)

Hull’s Historic High Street became a striking backdrop for the global hit series Victoria, starring Jenna Coleman. The award winning drama, based on the life of Queen Victoria - one of Britain’s most influential monarchs - captivated audiences worldwide.

National Treasure (2016)

This mini series from Channel 4 chose Hull’s impressive Guildhall building to double as London’s legal district. Two Harry Potter alumni, Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters, were spotted along Lowgate while filming.

A Royal Night Out (2015)

This film depicted the true story of Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret’s night out on VE Day in 1945. Locations such as Carr Lane, Queen Victoria Square, Lowgate, High Street and Alfred Gelder Street were chosen.

Amazing Grace (2006)

This historical drama follows William Wilberforce's decade long struggle to abolish slavery, despite widespread public indifference and powerful opponents determined to protect their interests. Wilberforce’s birthplace, located in the heart of Hull’s historic old town, is now the Wilberforce Museum.

Only Fools and Horses (1985)

Hull took centre stage in the Only Fools and Horses Christmas special 'To Hull and Back', where Del and Rodney are drawn to Hull as part of a diamond scam in Holland. The episode was filmed almost entirely on location, using St Andrew’s Dock, Charles Street, Paragon Station, and Albert Dock.
